How it works
What RP-PvP means in WoW Forever
There are no realms to choose between. Each ruleset (Normal, PvP, RP, RP-PvP, and later Hardcore) is one big megaserver per region, split into layers when it gets crowded. Pick RP-PvP and you share a world with everyone else who did.
You are flagged for PvP almost everywhere outside sanctuaries and your own faction's territory, so expect company while you level. Roleplay is expected too, and it starts with your name. PvP rulesets lock you to one faction, and friends must share your ruleset and faction to group with you. Blizzard has said transfers between rulesets are intentionally limited, so choose carefully.
Names on an RP server
Every character gets a first and a second name, each 2 to 12 letters, with no numbers, apostrophes or hyphens; accented letters are allowed. The full name must be unique across the whole region. On RP and RP-PvP, names must be believable: no puns, no memes. The second name can be a family or clan name, so a guild or a family can share one. Name changes are not available at launch.
Etiquette that keeps the server fun
Give your kills a story. Leave a camped lowbie something to come back for. Ask in character before turning a roleplay scene into a fight. Take a loss like a legend. Out of character, keep it friendly; in character, make them fear your name. The full survival guide has the rest.
The community
Contested Territory: the server's forum
When RP-PvP was confirmed there was nowhere for its players to gather: no server forum, no shared calendar, no place to recruit or brag about last night's ambush. Contested Territory is that place. It is free, open to both factions, and run for the whole server.
- Server News
- Launch status, patch notes, raid unlocks and the survival guide.
- Guild Hall
- One recruitment thread per guild, Horde or Alliance. Claim yours.
- Battle Reports
- World PvP stories and screenshots, from both sides of the same fight.
- Taverns of Azeroth
- Open in-character roleplay for any character and either faction.
- Events and Calendar
- RP nights, world PvP raids and guild events, with a date and a time.
Running a guild?
Claim your guild's thread in the Guild Hall before launch. There is a template, it takes two minutes, and every recruit who searches for an RP-PvP guild lands on the same list.
Questions
WoW Forever RP-PvP FAQ
Is there a WoW Forever RP-PvP server forum?
There is no official forum just for the RP-PvP ruleset, so we built one. Contested Territory is a free, fan-run community for everyone on the RP-PvP server, Horde and Alliance alike.
When does WoW Forever launch?
November 4, 2026, at 3 pm Pacific (6 pm Eastern). The first raids, Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair, open on December 9.
What is the RP-PvP realm called?
It does not have a realm name. WoW Forever runs one megaserver per ruleset in each region, split into layers when it gets crowded. Pick RP-PvP and you are on the same server as everyone else who did.
Can I play both Horde and Alliance on RP-PvP?
No. PvP rulesets lock your account to one faction, and friends must share your ruleset and faction to group with you. Decide before you roll.
Can I move my character to RP-PvP later?
Blizzard has said transfers between rulesets are intentionally limited. Plan on a different ruleset meaning a new character.
What names are allowed on RP-PvP?
A first and a second name, each 2 to 12 letters, with no numbers, apostrophes or hyphens. They must be believable character names, and the full name must be unique across the region. Name changes are not available at launch.
How do I list my guild?
Register at the forum and post one recruitment thread in the Guild Hall, using the template in the pinned thread. Horde and Alliance guilds are both welcome. Keep it current by editing it, not by reposting.
Who runs Contested Territory?
The Icebloods, a Horde roleplay family inside the Undead Lords (UDL), a guild playing together since 1994. The section belongs to the server, though, and we are recruiting moderators from both factions.
Who we are
Hosted by the Icebloods of UDL
The Icebloods are a Horde roleplay family inside the Undead Lords, a guild that has played together since 1994. On RP-PvP we ride as Skyborne of the Horde. If that sounds like your kind of trouble, read the Chronicle or roll an Iceblood. If not, you are just as welcome in Contested Territory. We will see you on the road.
Contested Territory is a fan community and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment. Details come from Blizzard's WoW Forever announcements and community guides; spot something out of date? Tell us in the survival guide thread.
Launch is November 4
